TIME

TIME – We rarely stop to think about time (we don’t have time to), but time is a gift, that can’t be replaced.

Time can be filled with love, hate, joy, laughter, pain, sorrow, anger, kindness ……

Many talk about equality but the only true equality is time, as every day time is equally allotted to everyone – 24 hours.

We can spend our time wisely, or worthlessly, we can squander it, or invest it, we can enjoy it, or abuse it, we can live it, or retreat from it, but it moves on regardless.

Quotes on Time

“We all have our time machines. Some take us back, they’re called memories. Some take us forward, they’re called dreams.” -JEREMY IRONS

“The only reason for time is so that everything doesn’t happen at once.” -ALBERT EINSTEIN

“Time is but the stream I go a-fishing in”. -HENRY DAVID THOREAU

“Suspect each moment, for it is a thief, tiptoeing away with more than it brings”. -JOHN UPDIKE

“Time is a great teacher, but unfortunately it kills all its pupils”. -LOUIS HECTOR BERLIOZ

“Time … thou ceaseless lackey to eternity”. -WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

My Reflections on Time

We often say we need to take time out for ourselves but we rarely do.

Most of our spare time is occupied by things that make no difference, for example watching television , it is so easy to slouch in front of the TV and flip from channel to channel, there are rarely programmes of quality, so we flip and flip, we become “anaesthetised” from this process.

How often do we pick up a book that either stirs the imagination or assists you to improve your chance of success in life. Either from improving your personal or business relationships or improving your skills. You could read one of those much derided self-help books, in order to extract anything of value from these you need to :-

  1. choose the right book or books.
  2. possess intelligence
  3. have a determination to succeed

I have been fortunate in my life, I have met some of the most successful life assurance salesmen in the world. I asked one of them, when he last read a self improvement book. You would think, he would say, look I am so successful – I don’t need to read that type of thing anymore. Instead he said, ” I am reading Think and Grow Rich for Forty Seventh time!”

I said why on earth have you read this forty seven times?

He said, because I get something new out of it, every time I read it!.

My advice is to look at how your spare time and ask yourself, is what I am doing now going to take me closer to my life goals, if not then it will take you further away …

Life is too short.

Time is running out.

Make the most of it.

A pension is a long-term investment that typically cannot be accessed until age 55 (57 from April 2028). The level of pension benefits offered could change depending on the value of your investments (and any income they may generate).

The interest rates in effect at the time you begin receiving benefits may also have an impact on your pension income. The tax consequences of pension withdrawals will depend on your unique situation. In later Finance Acts, tax rates, tax bases, and tax relief may change.

You are aware that past performance will not necessarily be repeated in the future, but you should be aware that persistent poor performance invariably will.

The value of an investment and the income from it could go down as well as up.

The return at the end of the investment period is not guaranteed and you may get back less than you originally invested.
